persepolis was AMAZING...

i just received my first batch of freelance illustration paraphernalia! i can't wait to send them off to some people and see if i can get some published work! i used the oh-so-wonderful www.overnightprints.com for my beautiful post– and business cards.

"he had memories of trees that no one had ever seen before." i was recently thinking of that story about the buck that was really vain about his antlers which eventually got him into trouble. i was doing some doodles and this was one turned into my IF submission... i'm trying to blend the detailed lines with very graphic silhouettes with out seeming too disjointed...

so, i've been dreaming of the three goals i have for this life...

1.) start my own business that allows me to be creative with my hands everyday.
(i've actually made this one come true – which is giving me hope for the following)

2.) have an illustration published in the New Yorker.
(wish me luck on this one!)

3.) create and produce a line of textile designs.
(i have no idea about how to make this one come true – but i'm determined to find out!)

lara cameron of kirin & co. is a total inspiration to that last goal of mine.

andrea rhodes and many others of girls who draw! i really like this community of illustrators – maybe someday I'll be good enough!

we are in new hampshire for a mini vacation! on the way we passed this motel sign that i can only imagine will make a great ink pen doodle.

keegan and i are about to celebrate our 2 year anniversary next month! since we didn't get married in berks county we couldn't receive that beautiful pa dutch certificate – so i decided to make our own... we are self-united; never to detach!

i finished my freelance illustration business card today!

i know this is a bit boring and quite literal but i just wanted to make a simple, serene doodle... soothing to make, soothing to look at...

it's actually happening! i have been waiting for a chance to create a custom card like this one... shelly"s wife commissioned this great card for his 80th birthday party and (as you can tell) she claims he loves the sun almost as much as himself.

and just like that...poof... summer's almost over. i just love the summer so much! and, since i can ride my bike all around town with my saddle-basket i can go to the printer and get all my work done in a jiffy. hooray to no gas bill! cheers to my summer biking dreams...
